Not much this time, but what news there is is unexpected.

Jeanne DuPrau has been interviewed by AlmanacNews.com! The article includes her feelings on the film, why she wrote Ember, and more. You can read it here.

Three young drama students from Portadown, Northern Ireland, were chosen to be in the new film. The article doesn't tell who they play, but nonetheless is pretty interesting! You can find it at the Portadown Times website, here.

That's it! News, or relevant news at least, has been pretty slow lately. Thanks for reading, though. :)

Not much 'news' today, but something big has been announced: the European premiere of City of Ember! It will take place in Belfast on October 9th, the day before the film's release. There have been a few interesting articles on the premiere (and generally the film/its making) as of yesterday, which can be read at these links: IFTN.ie // The Belfast Telegraph // BBC News.

This is a bit late, but there's been a second new clip from the film, which is here.
EDIT: The 'Videos' section of the film's official website has been set up! There are six videos you can watch, including two brand-new clips! This is exciting — nine days until the film's release! It's looking good....

A joke site has been added to the official site, promoting Mayor Cole for President. You can find it at www.ColeForMayor.com.

That's it for today. Thanks for reading!

I was browsing SciFi's site, and noticed this -- a clip from the movie of Doon in the pipeworks!

Hey, it's me, the mod...I figured I should make an intro post. Feel free to leave comments!

How did you discover the books?: I read Ember and Sparks a while ago, loved them, then forgot when there were no sequels. I saw Yonwood in stores last year, and I wanted to read it, but I was busy, and forgot again...you get the picture. I saw the trailer recently on YouTube, re-read my old copy of Ember, and bought the rest. Since I read Ember first, I'm reading them in this order: City of Ember, People of Sparks, Diamond of Darkhold, then Prophet of Yonwood.
Have you read the latest book? (Diamond of Darkhold)?: I'm over halfway though it. The feeling's very different from the other books, but I love it so far.
Do you have a favorite book in the series?: I can't choose; I like them all for different reasons. I'll probably decide when I've finished Yonwood.
Do you think the new movie will be good?: I think it looks fantastic! The differences from canon are a little off-putting, but it looks like it'll make up for that in creativity. I love what they did with the city, especially the statue in the center of town. (You can see loads of cool promotional shots on Flickr, here. [that's not my Flickr account.])
How do you think the community can be improved?: More members! And possibly a header if I get around to making one. fairest1 suggested fanfiction, and I agree, on the most part; they are labeled as children's books, so it would have to stay clean. I'l figure out some settings/tags/rules about fanfiction when/if anyone wants to write any or has already done so.

Anything else?: I'm excited for the future of this place, and also for the movie.

What's your name? (just the first one, thanks): Molly
How did you discover the books?: Saw them in the bookstore, but it took me a while to pick them up; I just read the first one this month.
Have you read the latest book? (Diamond of Darkhold)?: Not yet; I will once I get to a bookstore.
Do you have a favourite book in the series?: City of Ember. The first, and the best, IMO.
Do you think the new movie will be good?: It looks quite promising; at the very least, it's not going to be the worst adaptation I've seen.
How do you think the community can be improved?: Fanfic! And possibly a new layout.
Anything else?: Steampunk is awesome.

What's your name?: Iris
How did you discover the books?: I've heard of it, seen it around in bookstores and such, and I thought the cover was pretty. I have a little sister who's at just the right age to be reading the books and she said they were good, so I wanted to try them out.
Have you read the latest book? (Diamond of Darkhold)?: Yes! I loved it. Do you have a favorite book in the series?: Probably the first one, but I actually really liked Prophet of Yonwood too. That surprised me because at first I didn't want to go away from Lina and Doon. My order might be Ember, Yonwood, Diamond, Sparks. But they were all incredibly enjoyable.
Do you think the new movie will be good?: I aaactually kind of think it might not be popular enough to garner a sequel. Even just from the previews and promo pictures you can tell it's going to be really different. I'm not sure what to think yet, but I definitely want to see it. I'll take my little sister :)
How do you think the community can be improved?: Hmm, we should have a community-promoting spree, to let more people know about it!
Anything else?: Hopefully this community will come alive soon!

What's your name?: Justine
How did you discover the books?: It started when I was at my local movie theathers, watching a...well...movie. And there was a trailer of the City of Ember! I thought it looked really good and I wanted to see it. A few months later, I had won a free book over the summer, and was now choosing which one I wanted. After finding nothing, I picked up the City of Ember. It said on teh cover something like "Made into a motion picture this fall" or something, and my friend thought was, "Is this the book of that trailer?" I got the book and loved it. I am so far at the second book, and DYING to see the movie. <3
Have you read the latest book?: (Diamond of Darkhold)? NOOO. DDX My library - nor every library in my AREA - has it.
Do you have a favorite book in the series?: I'm only at number two (I got the prequal from my library, but I haven't read it yet), but the first one will always be the best.
Do you think the new movie will be good?: Yes. It won't be like the book at all (Just by watching the trailer, I found falts. XD Lina and Doon are supposed to be 12, though they look over 15; Poppy is over 2; which also means the paper was destroyed when Lina first sees it. Etc.) But for a movie itself, yes. I think it'll be great. XD
How do you think
emberfans can be improved? Umm...maybe more members? Soryr, I don't understand the question. DX Anything else?: Errm..I don't think so. Hi?

Saoirse-Ronan.net has found a new batch of high-quality promotional photos from the new movie! There are also two behind-the-scenes photos. I can't wait for October 10 (the film's release date!).

I'll try to keep the community up-to-date with news on the film/s, the books, and sometimes the actors. There will also be discussion posts when we have some more members. Thanks for reading!
